Modders - the future of video games?
Techland the developer of Xpand Rally has today informed that more and more new tracks, single elements that help create them, car models and car’s liveries are being created by gamers each day. All of that thanks to the fact that Xpand Rally has been released with complete game-editing toolset, what was quickly noticed and used by numerous modders and racing-games media – among them the Black Hole Motorsports portal that acclaimed Xpand Rally 'Most Editable' racing game of year 2004.
One of the most active modding groups is R.E.G-Racing-Editing-Gaming (A Perfectionist Powered Community). We invite everyone to read the interview www.xpandrally.com/chromed/reg with the R.E.G's founder, who, among others, said:
(...) without a doubt Xpand Rally or should I say (The Chrome Engine) is obviously a modders dreams, far too many developers out there are either scared ? shy ? or (under the thumb) unwilling to give any support to communities or in fact the people purchasing their games, that's why when i first saw XR i was pretty amazed and many months later still impressed the more deeper i go(...)
The interview also gives insight on the group's plans to create maps based on real racing tracks such as Rockingham, Silverstone, Bilston Streets. Moreover, unofficial information, obtained straight from the modders through forums indicate that a mod dealing with the legendary theme Pikes Peak is well underworks!
Everyone wishing to download the add-ons created by the community or wishing to join the modders ranks should go to the following links.

Xpand Rally Gamershell.com review - 8/10
Xpand Rally is a great game for those who are interested in the genre. For anyone who dislikes racing games, there is nothing new here to change your mind, but for everyone else, this is a very commendable offering.
